Amber Heard to Join Johnny Depp in Rum Diary

Well looks like they may have finally found who is to play Chenault in Rum Diary.. Amber Heard.  After the rumors of Scarlett Johannson and Keira Knightley interested I think they made a great choice!  With the backdrop of Puerto Rico this film is going to be amazing!   I bet Johnny is pretty excited about this project finally getting started after wanting to do it since 2003.  Now if we can only get Shantaram out of the starting gate also.

Here is a short excerpt from one of the articles about Heard joining the cast:

Hollywood

hottie Amber Heard is in negotiations to play the coveted female lead opposite Johnny Depp in The Rum Diary, the adaptation of the Hunter S. Thompson novel being directed by Bruce Robinson. It also looks like that news that we ran a few weeks ago about Depp taking on The Rum Diary as his next feature film

was pretty accurate. Production begins on March 30th in Puerto Rico with Depp’s Infinitum Nihil and Graham King’s GK Films

producing. Depp will play Paul Kemp, a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean.

Amber Heard will play the “unattainable” romantic interest Chenault, whom is the girlfriend of “a slick PR consultant named Sanderson” that becomes entangled in a corrupt hotel development scheme with Kemp. The role of Sanderon hasn’t been cast yet, or at least, they haven’t publicly revealed a name. Heard’s role apparently has quite a bit of nudity, but if you haven’t heard, she’s pretty much nude all throughout The Informers, so this wasn’t a big issue for her. I didn’t see The Informers, so I can’t speak for her acting abilities, but obviously with the roles she’s getting, it’s starting to seem like she’s the next big thing.
