From over at IESB news has broken that Jerry Bruckhiemer has come to an agreement with Director Rob Marshall for the 4th installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Looks like Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer have settled on director Rob Marshall, hot off 9, to helm the next PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN film starring Johnny Depp as the lovable Capt. Jack Sparrow.

The BFDeal Memo at Variety had the news,

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney have been meeting with a number of directors in recent weeks, because the studio wants to pull the “Pirates” film together and have Depp star in it before he does “The Lone Ranger” for the producer and the studio. While Marshall’s involvement wasn’t immediately confirmed, sources said things look good enough that the studio has begun casting new characters that will appear in the picture.

There hasn’t been a director at the helm of the pirate ship since April, when Gore Verbinski stepped out to focus on a movie version of the vidgame “Bioshock” for Universal (Daily Variety, April 7, 2009). Though that film’s lost some momentum, Verbinski has moved on to other directing and producing projects.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney have been meeting with a number of directors in recent weeks, because the studio wants to pull the “Pirates” film together and have Depp star in it before he does “The Lone Ranger” for the producer and the studio. It is big business for Disney, as the “Pirates” trilogy grossed $2.6 billion worldwide with Verbinski at the helm. Sources say unless things break down at the last moment, Marshall will be steering the pirate vehicle’s next installment.

Marshall, who made his feature directing debut with the Oscar-winning musical “Chicago,” most recently completed another musical, “Nine,” which stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson and Sophia Loren. The film will be released November 25 by The Weinstein Co.

Has the costumes and some of the sets.. After the trip to Puerto Rico to watch them film Rum Diary all that stuff is so cool to see.. Love when they let us in a little more.

First of all….
NO I am not attacking all photojournalist’s.. I am not really attacking anyone.. just stating fact.
And YES.. “everyone has to make a living”.. but not at the expense of someone else..

Some changes are coming about which I think are some damn good ones.
When we started InADeppTrance.com about a year and a half ago one of our goals were to not let any invasive paparazzi pictures be posted on our site. We have stuck to our guns.. There are no pictures of Johnny Depps kids on our site or any pic that appeared to be taken with a monster zoom lens at a place where Johnny was either vacationing with his family or doing something “normal” like eat. The celeb’s children are NOT in the business and didn’t choose to be in that position, never mind the creeps out there… Our members have been amazing keeping to that steadfast rule.

I am pleased to say that some of the other Depp sites are following suite and are now banning paparazzi photos of these types. The biggest objection we have, and it doesn’t just apply to Johnny, is that these celebrities have the right to some privacy just like the rest of us. Not all paparazzi is bad.. not all do the “get in your face” and “photo at any cost” kind of picture taking. Some are legit, and keep to the idea that celeb’s have rights too.. Yes.. they chose their profession.. yes.. they get payed buku bucks for what they do.. yes.. people want to “see” them.. But that doesn’t mean they are not entitled to some privacy with their kids or spouses or just being by themselves. They should be able to walk down a street.. go to a sporting event..take their kids to school… oh hell go to the movies without having a camera shoved in their face.. by either a fan or a paparazzi photographer. I realize it is a vicious circle with this subject because the tabloids and weekly chronicles will purchase these pics for an ungodly amount of money and the masses buy them up like there will never be another.

So don’t be all pissy and say we are picking on paparazzi and they are just doing their jobs.. well .. that is all the celeb’s are doing.. except these pictures are taken when they are not.. so technically they are “off the clock”

So there.. I digress.. Guess I will probably hear a few yell backs on this.. but so be it.. It is what it is!!

Maybe next time we will discuss “fans” and their behavior at times.. lol..

We are on the 4th premiere for Public Enemies now. Paris was tonight. Just like we have seen at the others Johnny Depp and Marion Cotillard have both looked amazing.
I don’t understand why though there aren’t very many photographs from Paris?? Very strange. Had over 200 from Chicago and LA.. London was a little less.. now Paris.. only about 30.. total
I’m sure hoping that more show up tomorrow. And I hope Johnny is now off for some much needed R&R.

The Unofficial 3 AM Cross-Examination of Public Enemies

If one statement could but sum up a single film in today’s ever faltering, ever shifting, and ever disappointing business, it would be this simply: Public Enemies restores to the light the classic hope of cinematic art and skill and determination and pride that once made America’s youth dream openly to be filmmakers and performers.

And that you can take to the bank. Warily, of course…

There is nothing but historical inevitability to expect when you arrive at the theater to see this film. There is nothing to be let down by because there are no flighty promises of delivery to begin with. Big Hollywood names shadow each other consistently from scene to scene, technique and creativity travel hand in hand like the criminals and hostages on the running boards of Ford V-8’s, and every gun fired eventually meets its counterpart either within the countless hungry eyes of destruction or the strumming tick of a perfectly timed banjo note. There are chases and tender unkempt pledges of affection, but it all filters together as one impure blend of slaking power.

In the center of which, lies the heart and pinstriped soul, the twisted smirk and the casual taunt of what is sure to be a contending dent in the Oscars this year. That dent, that effervescent spark, rests in the cocky swing of Johnny Depp’s eyes, where it would be impossible for one not to see every underlying mark Dillinger has scratched upon him from the grave and beyond. There’s the swagger, the crooning precision of aim and step and brief happiness, not to mention the square match of rebellion and rockstar-dom that each of the John’s uncannily share, generations apart. Depp is no Clark Gable. He’s no Brando, or Pacino. He’s a breed unto himself, something that cannot be touched, and it is now permanently determined with this film.

From the first moment that he steps inside of the frame entering a jail in the backwoods of Ohio, to the very last when he tumbles to the ground in a gust of his own trailing sin and imprudence, the story is told at large, and even better than that, it’s told righteously. So he may or may not have reached for a gun on that fateful night in inner city Chicago. And he may or may not have been a good guy, a Robin Hood as so many wanted to believe.

To that all I can say is, so what?

John Dillinger is a legend and it certainly didn’t take his death to accomplish that, like so frequently we see with infamy. He was ‘popular’ and ‘wanted’ and ‘appreciated’ long before he even knew he could be those things, for doing the one thing that no other self-enduring man in the Depression Era would: He fought back. He saw immorality and he ventured to chip a few bills off the top of the economic heap, tossing pennies to his farm grown brethren in the process. That was John Herbert Dillinger, and that is what Michael Mann has Mann-aged to piece together with his new summer opus.

He’s examined the period well, he knows the facts, he has the truth, and just like his anti-hero-hero, he’s decided to up and run with it. And boy, are we glad he did. Public Enemies is just what the movie business needed for a lift. It’s a twang, a soft-spoken but unforgotten maze of shootouts and near-catches rather than misses. Supporting Depp is Bale, or Melvin Purvis, who on the definitively Republican side of the law, has been thrown into the mix as the head of the Dillinger squad, in charge of only one task: To bring to justice Public Enemy #1, dead or dead. And as anyone familiar with the details of this case knows, the latter and the former are not always necessarily one in the same with J.D.

Marion Cotillard too, delivers a heart-stomping performance in which she, much like Depp, finds a niche in the talent of acting through her eyes, bearing the frightened spirit of who Billie Frechette really was. She makes the ideal match to the free-wheeling bank robber, both onscreen and in the history books and even those with stone hearts will be more than willing to silently cheer on the boiling romance of these two star-crossed, deviant lovers.

As for the action though, it is no hard thing to come by. The audience is virtually catapulted into the dead zone of 1933, shivering and anticipating the first purr of a Thompson sub-machine gun or the leading snap of a Colt pistol. And when it happens, believe me, you and everyone else, it HAPPENS. There is no pause for thought. There is no wondering or contemplation on the action. It arrives and dominates for seconds, minutes at a time, without taking a breath. Which is not so dissimilar from the well paying viewer. Hands may grip for the armrests, legs will shift nervously at the racketing, honest, real sound of the battles, and it is a guarantee that between those strings of shots, when single spurts of silence fall across the theater, THERE WILL BE HEAVY BREATHING AND GASPING.

And surprisingly enough, it does not ALL come as a result of Depp’s flawless smirk.

Public Enemies can be a date movie, if your date doesn’t survive on a hearing aid. It can be a true ‘guy’s night out’ film, without falling into the category of cliché. And above all else is can be a learning experience, and will be, of our nation’s hidden agenda, it’s disturbing past lessons on the proper, INTELLIGENT ways to operate against hardened, beastly, and devilishly charming outlaws. For other films and directors and actors, a $9.50 ticket to a 2 ½ hour showdown would be a sure fire waste. But in all consideration, if there’s anyone more deserving of a good robbery on the recessed economy this summer, ironically, its Mann, Depp and The Jackrabbit himself.

Grade: Easy A.

Johnny Depp has gone across the pond and was at the Public Enemies movie Premiere today! And thanks to Wireimage we have some beautiful pictures! Course not really sure how a picture of Johnny couldn’t be a beaut.. am I right?
I believe that tomorrow is the Paris Premiere.. Poor dear running all over the globe after working his tail off on Rum Diary in April and May and first week in June. Hopefully he is getting a break after this so he can hit the floor running on a new project in the fall..

I got a ticket to an advanced screening of Public Enemies with Johnny Depp last night. Apparently they gave out 500+ tickets for it and only had maybe 200 seats? All I know is that there were a lot of people that didn’t get in if they didn’t have the actual ticket in their hand.
We got in about 20 people in and that was jumping about 40 that were on a “list” and didn’t have physical tickets. Talk about lucky for us!!

Well done Johnny! If you don’t get an Oscar for this performance it would be a crime of colossal proportions that would pale in comparison with any robberies that John Dillinger commited.
Everyone in the film is wonderful,, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Jason Clarke, Rory Cochrane, Billy Crudup and Stephen Dorff, and the rest of the cast!

If you have the opportunity to go see it.. you MUST!! And it’s one that at least the first time you see it, it should be in the theater to get the full effect.. Take my word for it!

I will see it at least another 6-7 times before it leaves the theater.. probably all in the first weekend!!
